Re: 2023 Poll of Tyre Options
No idea of how many miles we're on the Bridgestones. They were not to the wear bars, but noticeably flat on top . They were on the bike when I bought it at auction last October. I then rode it 2400 miles home. Those tires required a definite push to get the bike to turn, and handling was stiff. I ha...

Re: What did you do today?
I spent the past two days doing a 2-day on-road riding course at the BMW Performance Center in South Carolina. Really excellent training! Challenging and informative, the instructors are wonderful. I rode a R1250GS, and learned a lot about what all of these bikes can do. I highly recommend that if y...

Re: Tools 1st oil change
My manual says the level 5 minutes after riding should be in the top half of the sight glass.
So you're good.
I do wish that BMW used a dip stick, though.

Interesting! I had no idea that Bruce's habit of regularly breaking a vice was his worst vice.

Nope, it's "Vise Grips". You clamp things in a vise. Some folks belong in a cell due their "vice".

Re: R1200rt
Easy test: Remove the K&N filter and see if that makes a difference. If not, then replace the resistor. If those are the only two mods, then one or the other (or both) are the cause.

Re: Addiction problem
Pretty bikes! Mine is a 2014 oil-cooled and had 36,000 miles when I bought it. Sadly, I had to do a FOIA request in order to get the service records from the PD it came from. I'd suggest that you join the BMW MOA as there is a lot of information available through them. As well as discounts of parts ...

Re: Horn for 2014 RTP
I can't speak for bikes outside of the USA, but here, the horn and connector are all present. Just not connected. The plug was wound up at the steering column in about three layers of tape. No programming was needed. I plugged it in and it immediately worked.

Re: 2023 Poll of Tyre Options
I just put on a set of Michelin Road6 GTs. Huge difference from the Bridgestone Battlax That came off! Handling is a dream! Goes straight when it's supposed to, and drops into a corner without any effort!

Re: What did you do today?
I had new tires put on my bike. Based on all the good reviews, I got Michelin Road6 GT tires. Rising home afterwards, the difference in handling was amazing! Previously, I had to push to get the bike to turn due to the flat centers on the tires. Now, I barely have to think about turning, and the bik...

Re: Road Tax
Road Tax is meant to be for repairing the road surfaces. Well that's what they told us years ago when the government brought the system in. This they use it all for beer these days as no one repairs the roads Yep. Supposed to be the same here. I had a local politician actually admit that they want ...

Re: Repair manual
For regular maintenance and similar tasks, the Haynes manual is pretty good. It's most useful as it has all the torque values and fluid capacities. For rebuilding components, you will probably want the factory manual. Although the factory manual assumes you have all the special tools!

Re: What did you do today?
Beautiful ride with the Nashville Club yesterday. I did 300 miles, up to Land Between the Lakes, between the Cumberland and Tennessee rivers to a marina restaurant. The back road route had a surprising amount of nice twisty roads that really gave me and the bike a good workout! It was the first chan...

Re: Road Tax
Here in Tennessee it's a "Wheel Tax". Two wheels is $46, four wheels is $64. No tax if you don't ride on-road. I think that there is a surcharge for electric vehicles since they do not pay for the roads with the gasoline tax.
